God, can You give me a blueprint please?
I’m not quite sure where this post will go but I feel the draw to write, here and now. I was in the middle of updating my website and felt the nudge of the Holy Spirit to start typing.
Have you ever needed a blueprint? Not to build a house but for your life? I asked the Lord for one just a few minutes ago for my Podcast. I heard this podcast coach say that in one of her episodes last week and it stuck with me. She encouraged the listeners to ask the Holy Spirit for a blueprint for where He wanted their business and/or podcast to go, be about. I’ve always asked the Lord for direction and instructions but I’ve never framed it as a blueprint. There’s just something about that word that I feel keeps drawing me in, even as I repeat it here. Let’s look up the definition of what it means exactly…
A blueprint for something is a plan or set of proposals that shows how it is expected to work.
A blueprint of an architect’s building plans or a designer’s pattern is a photographic print consisting of white lines on a blue background. Blueprints contain all of the information that is needed to build or make something.
A genetic blueprint is a pattern which is contained within all living cells. This pattern decides how the organism develops and what it looks like.
The offspring contain a mixture of the genetic blueprint of each parent. [+ of]
DNA is the genetic material in every cell that carries the blueprints for everything from hair color to the risk of cancer.
Genetic Blueprint huh? I have never heard of that before.
I would like it if I could be given a blueprint of how, why and what He’s asking of me concerning this podcast. For that matter let’s just say every area of my life. Give me a blueprint for my children God and how You want me to raise them as teenagers now. Where do You intend for them to go, how do I lead them in that direction? How about a blueprint for my health and how to heal my gut, raise my ferritin, lose this weight, fix my hormones. I’d love one for my marriage and how we are to grow together in this next season of life. My bridal business and salon clients, what’s Your plan for that in 2026?
In what areas would you like to ask for a blueprint? I’m reminded as I type this of the verse in Psalms; Your word is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my path. Or what about this one, ‘the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord’. How about the whole chapter of Psalm 139…
1O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.
2You know when I sit down and when I rise up [my entire life, everything I do];
You understand my thought from afar. [Matt 9:4; John 2:24, 25]
3You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And You are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
4Even before there is a word on my tongue [still unspoken],
Behold, O Lord, You know it all. [Heb 4:13]
5You have enclosed me behind and before,
And [You have] placed Your hand upon me.
6Such [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high [above me], I cannot reach it.
7¶Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead), behold, You are there. [Rom 11:33]
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
10Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will take hold of me.
11If I say, “Surely the darkness will cover me,
And the night will be the only light around me,”
12Even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You,
But the night shines as bright as the day;
Darkness and light are alike to You. [Dan 2:22]
13¶For You formed my innermost parts;
You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.
14I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
15My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was being formed in secret,
And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.
16Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were appointed for me,
When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].
17¶How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them! [Ps 40:5]
18If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You.
19¶O that You would kill the wicked, O God;
Go away from me, therefore, men of bloodshed. [Is 11:4]
20For they speak against You wickedly,
Your enemies take Your name in vain. [Jude 15]
21Do I not hate those who hate You, O Lord?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22I hate them with perfect and utmost hatred;
They have become my enemies.
23¶Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart;
Test me and know my anxious thoughts;
24And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way.
I don’t have any answers yet from when I started typing but I do know that He knows my every move, even before I was born, He had it planned out. Therefore, I will walk in the way that He leads, even if I don’t get the blueprint. I hope that this encourages you to do the same, even in the unknown. Just keep walking, keep listening and He will continue to lead you the same. If we let His word light the path and trust that as we seek Him in all we do, that our steps are being ordered of Him peace will come alongside all the questions. I don’t know why I needed to write this, but it feels much like if I were writing in my journal, not a blog post. Maybe this is for me, maybe this is for you. Let’s both just keep walking while we wait for the blueprint, that may or may not come. I guess its faith building time…
